I had a litany of praise for my experiences composed (5 lengthy paragraphs) but an incoming call erased them. As a result I am going to opt for a summation and simply state that I have been a patient of Ortho NW since 2006 and have always received top quality medical care and services beginning at the front desk and including every department from Dr Nanson himself to Michael in XRay, and Jessica in accounts. Special accolades to her for above and exemplary customer assistance on multiple occasions. Dr. Nanson has given me a quality of care that is leaps above my routine medical experiences. Most of my historical providers have been less than stellar we'll say and as such have left a generally bad taste in my mouth for healthcare. Most weren't trusted. Dr. Nanson is a very notable exception. Left knee revision, left hip replacement, right knee replacement, and most recently a torn muscle care and every experience characterized by professionalism, personable interaction and of course top notch surgical and aftercare. I would be willing to pay for out-of-network to be able to receive a continuum of care here rather than any other provider.
Dr Nanson has been my doctor for 10+ years and I wouldn’t want anyone else working on me. Not only is his expertise of the highest in his field, he is also very personable and gets to know his patients beyond the physical aspect. He cares about how you are feeling and your overall well-being. He makes you feel as comfortable as if you were talking to a best friend. He follows up before during and after any surgery or office visit. I am very frugal with my ratings but where Dr Nanson is concerned he easily gets Five Stars.
Dr Christopher Nanson did my total hip replacement surgery ten days ago. This is a huge surgery considering the joint is cut out and replaced with moving metal parts. But, with ten marathons and too much football in school I wore out my hip. It was painful every day so it was a decision to do this I do not regret.
I set up an appointment with Dr Nanson because according to my regular orthopedic, Dr Nanson is the guru of anterior hip replacement surgery. This is the minimally invasive, from the front, joint surgery. I got an appointment with the PA, was evaluated, and surgery scheduled a few weeks later. I then met a few days before with Dr Nanson who spent about 30 minutes explaining everything that would happen.
On the morning of the surgery at the center I was treated like I was going to a day spa, including what food I was wanting from the nearby deli after my procedure. I again met with the Doctor and the Anesthesiologist in a private room, then an IV, and they rolled me into the operating room. The staff was amazing, polite and friendly, and extremely professional in every way.
Next, I woke up with a new hip! A few hours later after a few walk arounds and some lunch, I walked out of the surgery center.
How does it get any better than that?
I have worked in the medical field for 20+ years. One gets to know competence in providers. I saw Dr. Christopher Nanson & I know he is competent to do my hip replacement. He listens to the patient. Not only was I impressed with him & his bedside manner, his PA & nurse were top-notch as well. All very efficient and professional.
My husband had a hip replacement with Dr. Christopher Nanson and he and his staff made the entire process very easy for us. He is doing very well in his recovery now. Dr. Nanson has done so many of these procedures that he's an expert. He is also one of only a couple of surgeons in the area who do an anterior hip replacement, which is a less invasive procedure that posterior hip replacement. We highly recommend Dr. Nanson. He's also very personable and down to earth.
After a bilateral (two at a time) hip replacement, I am 100% sure that Dr Christopher Nanson was the best choice. Every piece of the picture was excellent. Dr Nanson did an amazing job, his staff and recommendations no less wonderful. I carefully considered some of the best known hip doctors around Portland and chose Nanson and am very, very glad I did.
“This photo was taken on the start hill of the Olympic downhill run at Snow Basin, UT. The slope is 49 degrees and it was taken in 2018 a year after my left knee replacement and 5 years after my right hip replacement. I hope this little photo can encourage anyone needing replacements to do so. Gordy Lusk”
